Mastering

As an artist himself, Aaron can appreciate the countless hours that are poured into the production of your song.

With the years of experience and an understanding of genre standards, Aaron is able to use all the tools in his reach to create the best sonic outcome with high fidelity.

Using a mix of analog gear and digital software Aaron will shape the final product the best of mastering standards.

The process of mastering begins with a final mix and a reference.

The use of references allows Aaron to understand the direction in which to lead your song in terms of stereo width, spectrum balance, clarity adjustment and loudness (the most critical process in the final stage).

APR Studio offers two mastering options.

Stem Master:

The most popular service by far is a stem master.

A stem master offers more control in dynamics, colour, stereo imaging and EQ over the individual stems, eliminating the need for making sacrifices in the final master.

This process will split your song into 8 stems in a typical format:

  • Kick stem

  • Snares stem

  • Bass stem

  • Drums stem (fills, cymbals ect.)

  • Synths stem

  • Leads stem

  • Vocals stem

  • FX stem

Having control over these individual parts is more or less another mix down with mastering applied.

It allows Aaron to visually and sonically correct elements that are limiting the potential outcome of the song.

Stereo Master:

One final mix file will be processed through a hybrid of analog and digital processing chains to create the final product, Stereo Master.

See ‘File Preparation’ for more information.
